It has always been great fun doing workshops and demonstrations at the HK flower club. This time is the wired orchid bouquet. Cymbidium orchid is chosen to be the flower as it lasts fairly well without water.

Inserted into wired frames wrapped in ribbons, these orchid flowers appear to look even more luxurious. This kind of bouquets with collars have been fashionable for a while now, but using ribbons and down-sizing them to almost a posy level is still somewhat new, I think. It is also easier for novel participants to handle the bouquet.

Different colours combinations

The crux of the whole thing, however, is the colour combination. It is the first thing you encounter when you look at the flowers. So colour balance is essential between the colours of the orchids and that of the collar.

All in all it was a fun afternoon and it was great to see most of the participants managed to produce their own orchid bouquet without struggling too much.
