Peony is one of the favourite flowers for wedding both in Asia and Europe. Its fluffy multi-petal appearence is very attractive and its fragrance is to die for. It is also highly symbolic in the Chinese culture as the symbol for wealth and prosperity. So it is understandable why this flower is so popular in weddings.

So if you want to have peonies for your wedding, think of May. In Hong Kong, the best quality peonies come from the Netherlands, but places like New Zealand and China also cultivate them.

Peonies are excellent floral materials to be bridal bouquets, as they are light, textured and delicate, and they will match with most wedding gowns. However, they do need to drink a  lot of water and need to be handled carefully. Usually, their petals don’t fall off easily, but once they start there is nothing to stop it, so choose only those that are not fully opened.
