Celebrity black and white Wedding

The brief of this wedding was to create a stylish celebrity feeling in the colour scheme of black and white. Rare to be used as a colour scheme for weddings, the use of black and white is quite a challenge. Yet with careful colour tweeking and lighting coordination, the result was refreshingly striking.

The sumptous ballroom in black

The decorations for the venue were divided into three main parts: the stairs leading to the reception and ballroom, the table centre pieces, and the stage in the ballroom.

Welcome to Winterwonderland

To interpret the white aspect of the black and white theme, the grand staircase was turned into a snowy winter landscape. Draped with numurous orchid strands and candle glass cups, 12 10′ tall trees in white lined the entire length of the staircase, giving hints to the guests of what is in store in the ball room.

Eustoma and white orchid centre pieces make strong statements

If whiteness is the staircase, then the ballroom is its opposite. Saturated in sumptous black satin table cloths and seat covers, the silver cutlery and white orchid centrepieces shimmer like stars in a crsip clear night.

Let them eat the 3 tiered cake!

In the middle of the giant 36 guest head table sits a 3 tiered floral cake. Made with orchids, champagne roses and white hydrangea, this floral cake attracted much attention. To complete the cake theme, each chair back was decorated a swag of orchids, so that they look like the bottom tier of the cake.

The huge canopy draped with orchid strands

The stage is another grand statement. 26′ long and 12′ deep, it was completely covered by a tent with a curved canopy. At the base of the canopy were 4 floral pillars decorated with phaleanopsis orchids, cymbidium orchids and roses. The curved top was draped with orchid strands. Finnished with ever changing lighting effects, the impression was almost overpowering.

Given the brief was to create a dramatic celebrity wedding, our celebrity bride and groom certainly got what they wanted.
