‘Solomon is one of the most celebrated floral
artists in the world. He flew in from Hong Kong to create his exhibit,
a modernist creation of circles of dried lotus and bamboo leaves, with
a centrepiece of pure white orchids and slender waves of black
cordyline above.’ BBC Online 22nd May 2008
It has been a very busy but exciting 10 days. The is my 4th time exhibiting at the most famous flower show in the world. The title given for this piece as ‘Artistic license’ and I wanted to create an arrangement that symbolizes the art of the East. So I chose a stylized cloud pattern that is common in Chinese paintings and developed the theme thereon.

I chose orchids as the main flowers for its Eastern connection and alongside it some discs made of lily grass and bamboo leaves. The result was more than satisfactory, and I am thrilled that I have won gold and Best in Show once again. I met many other floral designers as well and made good connections. Hopefully we will be able to work together in the future.

Chelsea flower show is a great place for inspiration for anyone who likes flower, plants and horticulture. You don’t have to be a gardener or flower arranger to enjoy the show, as the beauty of nature and its creations are so easily accessible that you don’t have to work hard to enjoy them.
Diversity rules! Above Clockwise: A Zen show garden, tomatoes arrangements, a ’sold’ sign made of roses!, natural planting, minimalist scuplture, 8′ tall delphiniums.
There are so many different gardens and plants and flowers to look at the choices are bewildering, and the gardening atmosphere even spilled over to the streets of Chelsea, where famous brands have also put up a floral display!
